Coordination One of the key duties of a Geriatric Care Manager is to Coordinate with the other key players in the care of your loved one. The “care” encompasses much more than just the physical side of things and dealing with the doctors and nurses. The “coordination” could include other family members, elder law attorneys, estate planning attorneys, CPA's, home health care personnel, trust personnel at the bank, insurance professionals, and real estate professionals just to name a few. Coordination has to be done using a “holistic approach” because each area has the potential to impact the others. Think of me as a “General Contractor”....once we know what your loved one or you yourself can do then we see what the other family members can do then we arrange for and can monitor the required services. I am firmly convinced that the cost of my services will save you significant dollars in the long run. I know whom to hire because I know their reputations and also their strengths and weaknesses. And I take the load of doing all the coordinating off your shoulders. Additionally, because I know what needs to be done I can keep the lines of communication open between the service providers and often catch issues before they become problems.
